PATTAYA – March 2, 2013 [Pattaya Daily News]: At 2:30 a.m., a police sweep and mass arrest of ladyboy prostitutes on Walking Street was conducted by police officers and volunteers, led by Pol. Col. Netithorn Rattanasuchanan, vice suppression inspector of Muang Pattaya police station.

The police were looking to clear out the junkie ladyboys who were secretly using or selling drugs, as well as the overly aggressive ones who pester and annoy tourists. The police commander had ordered the sweep of ladyboys as part of the ongoing effort by police to prevent crimes and ensure the safety of tourists in Pattaya.

Police arrested 30 ladyboys, including more than 10 junkies. Many ladyboys scrambled to escape down side streets to avoid arrest. Police seized the evidence that included meth tablets, marijuana, and fake ice meth being sold to tourists.

The police detained the suspects and brought them to the Pattaya police station to check their criminal records and subject them to drug testing, before sending them to be prosecuted.
