Police Shoot Thai Man At Checkpoint

A Thai man was shot by policemen because he fled a checkpoint and the video was spread on social networking sites.

CHONBURI – March 15,2015 [Pattaya Daily News]; a social network video showed a rescue team that had helped a man who had been shot by police and was unconscious on a local road.

 

Upon questioning eyewitnesses they revealed that 4 policemen had set up a checkpoint at 22.00 pm but hadn’t installed a sign. Later a Kawasaki Ninja entered the checkpoint but didn’t stop so the police opened fire and hit the rider causing him to crash. Lots of local people complained that the police were out of order and there was no need to shoot the rider. Later the rescue team sent the injured man to Wipawadee Laemchabang hospital.

 

Meanwhile, another eyewitness revealed that the policemen gave him a sign to stop but he didn’t stop so they shot him.

 

The injured man was identified as Mr.Nared Rodboonsongsi aged 41 who had suffered a gunshot wound to his head. In addition net surfers had severely criticized the excessive action.

 

Pol.Maj.Gen.Nitipong Niemnoi-commander- said that the man was drunk and he just come from a pub and when he reached the checkpoint he was afraid that he would be tested for alcohol and decided to flee the checkpoint so the officers shot into the air once which caused him to crash.

 

He added that he had summoned POL SEN SGT MAJ.Supan Chamnit who let off the fire arm so he can find out the real truth. He then ordered Pol.Col.Chakrit Sawasdee-investigation inspector- to investigate the case to find the truth.
