PATTAYA – March 8, 2013 [Pattaya Daily News]; at 11 p.m. the arrests of a large number of motorbikers for disturbing the public with noisy bikes was made by Pol. Col. Suphachai Phuikaewkham, Superintendent, Banglamung police station, Chonburi province; together with Pol. Lt. Col. Theeradech Masthanaphan, Deputy Superintendent; Pol. Maj. Thapana Khlosuwanna, Inspector, traffic police of Banglamung police station; Pol. Capt. Wiwat Sukjit, Deputy Inspector; Pol. Sub. Lt. Phethai Meekaew, Deputy Inspector; and the head of the sentry box of traffic police in the area.

Local residents were complaining about a big group of teens driving in extremely loud and annoying motorbikes. The drivers had modified the motorbikes to compete in informal races.

Police then set up checkpoints around the area of Banglamung police station. Officers seized a total of 25 motorbikes, including 1 modified motorbike, and 10 motorbikes without registration documents being driven by suspicious drivers. The police subjected 18 drivers to drug tests, but none tested positive for drugs. However, officers discovered 35 drivers had drank alcohol, and they arrested 1 person.

Pol. Col. Suphachai said that the arrests are because of the policy of Pol. Lt. Gen. Vinai Thongsong, Commissioner, section 2, to keep neighborhoods peaceful for residents. So Pol. Maj. Gen. Katcha Thartsart, Commander, Chonburi province, had commanded that officers strictly enforce and arrest violators disturbing the peace, to solve the problem of teenage gangs competing motorbike races on public streets and modifying the motorbikes to create great annoyance to the other people in the area.

So the police commander mobilized the forces of both the traffic police and volunteer police to set up the checkpoints to strictly inspect and arrest the teenage gangs driving modified motorbikes in area of Banglamung police station, in response to the policy of the police superiors that requires they arrest a lot of gangs of teenagers with motorbikes who behave illegally.

The police would like to inform local residents to take care of their children in regards to the traffic rules about the modifying of motorbikes that may cause danger and trouble to other people, which is illegal. Parents should make their children re-adjust their illegally modified motorbikes, and ensure the road behavior of the young driver is legal for the well being of every person in the town.
