Riot-helmeted police armed with shield and batons also attempted to reclaim the compound after being forced to withdraw early Friday morning. The confrontation led to scuffle with injuries being sustained by some protesters, but police detained that tear gas had been used, as reported by some media.

Meanwhile, the police also dispersed the smaller group of PAD activists gathered at the movement’s former main rally venue at Makhawan Bridge, where numerous golf clubs, batons, and iron balls for slingshots were found at the main platform.

In related develoments, the Appeals Court accepted consideration of an appeal by the Peoples’ Alliance for Democracy regarding the court order for the protesters to leave Government House.

The Court was scheduled to give the ruling within 15 days. (TNA)
