Police Now Conducting Random Vehicle Checks In Pattaya

Police from the Na Jomtien district police station recently set-up barricades on Sukhumvit Road, with the intention of performing random vehicle checks.

Pattaya, the 15th of November 2009 [Pattaya Daily News]: Officers from the Na Jomtien police station with the help of Lieutenant General Kris Siriprasertchoke, set-up vehicle check points along the Sukhumvit Road recently. The National Police Office (NPO) requested that Pattaya district police begin the process of randomly checking cars in the area. Arresting anyone found to be in breach of the law. This new initiative was commenced in response to the continuing problem of high speed and further more street racing that takes place on the Sukhumvit Road, especially on the weekend.

Lt General Siriprasertchoke has declared his support for the new NPO intuitive. Further stating that after the stop points were placed on Sukhumvit Road (between Pattaya and Sattahip), they successfully apprehended several motorbike riders on charges of not having the correct papers for their bike, having an illegally modified bike or for driving at high speed. Further to the motorbikes police managed to apprehend one driver of a car with an illegal sound system.
