PATTAYA – December 9, 2012 [Pattaya Daily News]; at 1 p.m., a suspect came to meet with police in connection with the murder of Mr. Kamol Supatsaksakul or Bo, age 44, who was fatally shot by an unknown gunman. The murdered victim was the driver of Pattaya Lord Mayor Itthiphol Khunpleum. He had been shot three times, and died later at the hospital.

The fatal shooting occurred in the early morning darkness on December 8, in front of the sales office of the Netureza condominium on Chaipornvithee road, near the bridge of Nong Preu canal, Moo 12, Tambon Nong Preu.

The suspect who met with the police is Mr. Yotha or Ton Visasoong, age 29, from Nakornratchasima province. He is a suspect because the car the gunman was riding was described as a black car by Mr. Kamol’s wife, who was a passenger on her husband’s motorbike when he was shot.

However, she only recalled that the car was black, and not the car’s model or license number. Mr. Yotha drives a black Toyota Vios, and was also known to get into quarrels at the Mr. Kamol’s family-owned liquor store in Bali Hai.

Mr. Yotha said he voluntarily came to the police after the murder was reported by the news, because it also reported that he and his friends were suspects. So they came to see the police to show their sincerity, and that they had nothing to do with the killing.

Mr. Yotha confirmed that he usually takes his friends to drink liquor at the shop of Mr. Kamol. He admitted to previously blasting music from his car too loudly while they were drinking. But he never had a quarrel with Mr. Kamol, and they did not shoot Mr. Kamol. The police make a record of their testimonies for evidence, and seized Mr. Yotha’s car to be inspected for any traces of carbon gunpowder residue.

Pol. Lt. Phuritat Chanabordee, the investigation officer on duty at Banglamung police station, said that he called Mr. Kamol’s wife, Mrs. Sunisa Kongkaew, for further information and also to update her on the progress of the case.

He said that the scientific police officer had inspected the murder scene again, and had found a spent bullet shell of unknown caliber. The shell was lying on the sandy ground about 20 meters from a dried pool of blood. Police kept the bullet shell for evidence.

In another possible break in the case, police found footage from a CCTV in front of the sales office of the Netureza condominium that may have shown the car the killer was riding in.

The footage showed that at 3:20 a.m., at about the time of the shooting, there was a black Toyota Vios on the road. The light in the back of the car was turned on only on the right side. As the car passed the CCTV, the footage showed that the rear door window on the passenger’s side was open.

Then the motorbike of Mr. Kamol fell down, so it was assumed that the gunman was sitting on the left back seat of the car when he shot Mr. Kamol three times.

As for the cause of this shooting, the police did not yet rule out any causes. They assumed that the killer’s motive might be from a business dispute, personal revenge or a love affair. However, police said they did rule out the possibility that a foreign hit man had done the killing, or that foreigners were involved in the murder.

The police are making the murder case a top priority. Pol. Lt. Col. Jakkarin Tuasupharp, Deputy Superintendent, Banglamung police station revealed that he was commanded from Pol. Maj. Gen. Katcha Thartsart, Commander, Chonburi province, to rush to clear this case and follow up to arrest the gunman as soon as possible

So the Banglamung police commander has sent a detective police team led by Pol. Lt. Col. Thanormsak Intaraboot, Inspector, Chonburi province, to join police forces in tracking down the suspects.
