PATTAYA – May 10, 2013 [Pattaya Daily News]; At 2 a.m., concerned residents reported that a big group of teens were gathering in front of a Pattaya convenience store for a gang fight. The report was received by Pol. Capt. Netithorn Rattanasuchananda, vice suppression inspector, Pattaya police station.

The teens were gathered in front of the 7-Eleven near Flybird market, soi 17, south Pattaya, moo 10, Nongprue, Banglamung, Chonburi.

Arriving officers found more than 20 teenagers in front of the 7-Eleven. Police assumed some teens must be carrying weapons, so the police officers encircled and body searched them. Some of the teens protested and tried to run away, but they were all arrested.

The police found a Thai short shotgun, with 20 bullets, and arrested the owner. He was identified as Mr. Rungwit Iam-ong, or Pan , 26 years old, living at house number 64/2 moo 9, Nongprue, Banglamung, Chonburi, He confessed that it was his gun he had been carrying, which the police seized as evidence.

From their preliminary investigation, the police discovered that almost all of the gang members attended junior high schools in Pattaya. They had gathered at the area to beat their enemies, because they had a dispute about a love affair. So they had an appointment to see each other there, but the other gang had not shown up yet.

However, some residents got afraid so they called the police. The police subjected the teens to urine tests to search for drugs, and checked their records before releasing them. As for the gun owner Mr. Rungwit, the police charged him for having a weapon and carrying it in a public place, and then sent him to detective officers.
