Chon Buri, 3 December 2010 (PDN): At 9.00 pm Saensook Police Station Superintendent, Colonel Somchai Suetortrakoon, ordered officers to the White Village Project in Mueng, Chon Buri, where criminal activities were suspected at one of the residences.

Villagers informed the police they suspected that one of the houses, at 92 Phattana1 Road, was the scene of drug dealing and other crimes, and so officers went to investigate.

On arrival at the house the landlord, Miss Jutharat Thongphajong [39], acted suspiciously on seeing the police and the house was subsequently searched. Five loaded shotguns were found in a wardrobe and confiscated as evidence.

They also found a large safety box in the bedroom, which Miss Thongphajong refused to open, claiming she didn’t know the combination code as it belonged to her husband who was currently serving jail time for drugs offences.

When the police informed her that she may be charged for weapons possession, even if they didn’t belong to her, she panicked and found the code to open the box. Subsequently Colonel Somchai Suetortrakoon was bemused to see a large collection of weapons including 23 shotguns and rifles. A total of 28 weapons were found in the house and taken to Saensook police station for examination.

Miss Thongphajong explained that all the items belonged to her husband and before he was jailed they ran a pawn business together. Some of the guns were registered, and some not.

All the weapons were kept as evidence and Miss Thongphajong would be charged for the illegal possession of firearms.
