Poisoned Woman Robbed And Raped by ‘Shaman’

A 52-year-old Sattahip man was arrested for poisoning, raping and robbing a 41-year-old woman he had known for years. During a phony shaman ritual to reunite her with her separated husband, she was deceived into drinking herbicide and fell unconscious. Afterwards, the woman briefly revived and notified police before she died.

SATTAHIP – March 27, 2013 [Pattaya Daily News]; at 1 p.m., the arrest of a suspect for raping, robbing and causing other person’s death was announced by Mr. Phawat Lertmukda, the sheriff of Sattahip; with Mr. Narong Boonbanjerdsri, the mayor of Sattahip; Pol. Col. Chanapat Nawalak, director of Sattahip police station; Pol. Lt. Col.Prakorb Sangpring, vice suppression director; Pol. Lt. Col.Nipon Pomsanam, vice detective director; Pol. Lt. Col. Aphichanant Wattanawarankoon, suppression inspector; and the suppression officers.

The suspect was identified as Mr. Supoj Potip, or Poj, 52 years old, a temporary worker of way authority Sattahip, living at the house number 77/9, moo 9, Sattahip, Sattahip, Chonburi.

Police seized the evidence of a bottle of a liter of herbicide, “Gramoxone,” 21,710 baht in cash, and a 1-salueng gold ring. Pol. Lt. Col .Prakorb Sangpring, vice suppression director, revealed that this was a horror case.

On March 21, at 8 p.m., police received a report of a poisoned woman whose bottom was naked. She was discovered lying in a pavilion in soi Romruedee, moo 7, Sattahip, Sattahip. He called the rescuers from Sawangrojjana Tammasathan foundation Sattahip to assist and take her to Queen Sirikit hospital.

The victim was identified as Mrs. Pinnapa Tamhin, 41 years old, the owner of a som tam restaurant, moo 5, Plutaluang, Sattahip. She is also the sister-in-law of commander Pornchai Tongburan, the Olympic boxing hero who won a bronze medal for Thailand.

The police rushed to the ER at the hospital, where the victim was in coma but revived enough to speak. She told police that she had been poisoned and raped, and had 50,000 baht stolen from her by the suspect. Then she died after giving police the information.

The police went to arrest the suspect at the front of Royal Navy sport arena, Km.5, while he was riding motorcycle out of the area. After his arrest, the suspect confessed to killing the woman, and he admitted that he had planned beforehand to rape and rob her.

They had known each other for years as friends. He always claimed that he was a shaman, and could perform magic charms for people. The victim Mrs. Pinnapa had broken up with her husband, and she became depressed.

On the evening of March 20, she came to the suspect to ask for advice, because she wanted her husband back. Also, she had 50,000 baht, but wanted another 50,000 baht to make a down payment for a car to use in her work.

The suspect then deceived her by saying he would find her loan, and he would perform the ritual to call her husband back to her. When she believed him, he took her on his motorcycle and they drove into the forest.

He told her to lie down, and then tricked her into drinking the herbicide, which he had poured in an energy drink bottle. He told her that it was a holy water. After she drank it, she became unconscious. When the suspect thought she had died, he pulled down her trousers and raped her. He then wrote a suicide farewell letter to hide his guilt. Then he took all her money to buy a gold ring for his mistress.

The fake shaman had no idea his victim was still alive. Mrs. Pinnapa then woke up and escaped from the forest to ask for help. She later told the police about the man who murdered her, and then she died.
