Pm Orders Police to Arrest Perpetrators of Grenade Attacks on Pad, Judge’s Home

BANGKOK, Oct 30 - Prime Minister Somchai Wongsawat ordered Bangkok police to speed up finding and arresting those who carried out a grenade attack early Thursday against the Peoples Alliance for Democracy (PAD) protest site on Rajdamneon Avenue, and who may also have lobbed a grenade into a judge‘s compound late Wednesday night.

The prime minister ordered higher security at Makhawanrangsan Bridge while ordering a guard to be maintained to provide security at judges’ houses.

Mr.Somchai said that he was briefed by national police chief Pol. Gen. Patcharawat Wongsuwan about the two incidents. He instructed the police to speed up investigation to find those responsible bombers so that they might be punished.

Speaking about the explosion at the home of Constitution Court judge Jaral Pakdeethanakul, Mr. Somchai said that he ordered the police to arrange special teams to provide security at house of all constitution court judges.
Justice Jaral is involved in the rulings against former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra.

The prime minister instructed the police to maintain order as the pro-government United Front of Democracy Against Dictatorship or UDD plan to gather on Saturday. If anyone breaks the law, he said, legal action will be taken against them, he said.

The gathering of the red-shirted UDD demonstrators is planned as part of a ‘mobile political talk show “Kwam Jing Wan Nee” (The Truth Today) at Rajamangla Stadium when ousted prime minister Thaksin is expected to telephone his supporters.

The show is normally broadcast on the state-run NBT channel but Mr. Thaksin’s address will not air live on NBT but will be carried live on the Internet at http://www.todayfact.com., according to leading UDD member and People Power Party (PPP) MP Jatuporn Promphan. (TNA)
