PM Green Light To U-TapaoPM gives a green light to scheme to develop U-Tapao airport and Chuk Samet Harbour.
PATTAYA – June 22,2016 [PattayaDailyNews]; at 09.00am Gen Prayuth Chan-Ocha, prime minister of Thailand, chaired the conference at U-Tapao airport. The agenda is the milestone to develop the airport and Sattahip commercial port. Somkid Jatusripitak, deputy PM, Gen Anupong Paochinda, minister of interior, Akom Termpittayapaisit, minister of transportation, Atchaka Sriboonrueng, minister of industry, attended the conference.
Col Taksada Sungchan, spokesman of office of prime minister, disclosed after the conference that the official aims to promote industry and tourism and etc.
Akom narrated about economic growth that east of Thailand is manufacturing case of petrochemical industry which 36% domestic investment (1.9 billion baht). As a result, the government aims to develop transportation including rail link and motorway in order to reduce transportation distance and cost. In addition, the ways link to capital city and foreign country.
The government aims Pattaya to be hub of logistics. They focus on green energy transportation with high speed train Bangkok-Pattaya-Rayong and ferry pier.
In addition, private sector is ready for investment in the near future. It’s expected that the investment might be over 1.5 billion baht consisted of 500k million baht on targeted industry, 400k million baht on infrastructure, 400k million baht on residence and 200k million bat on tourism. Development of U-Tapao airport and local areas are the key point of the mega project.
PM urged the officials to quickly continue the project and keep timing of master schedule. However, PM would reconsider about green industry scheme whether it would have environment side effect.
Plus, PM gives a green light to develop U-Tapao airport and Sattahip commercial port; however, the officials consider feedback from local people. The officials intend to educate the people how importance the project is.
At 11.00am, PM went to U-Tapao aircraft maintenance centre. Charamporn Chotisathien reported the readiness and progress of development to PM. U-Tapao aircraft maintenance centre is internationally standardised; therefore, U-Tapao airport has ability to be the hub of ASEAN.
Later PM went to inspect Chuk Samet Harbour in Sattahip district in order to follow up the progress of ferry pier and he addressed that everyone has to collaborate to develop the country.
