Responding to PAD core leader Chamlong Srimuang’s statement that the PAD is ready to hold talks with the government, Prime Minister Somchai said negotiation is a good solution in principle.

Asked who would be the government’s representatives to talk with the PAD, he said “Anyone who can do this job well. The government agrees with the idea.”

One of PAD’s top core leaders, Gen. Chamlong, called for talks only between the government and the anti-government coalition activists led by the PAD core leader, the prime minister said it was possible but he had not been contacted by anyone yet. Asked if he would join the talks with the PAD himself, he said he was undecided.

Meanwhile, the prime minister said the government had a person to fill in the deputy prime minister position after Gen. Chavalit Yongchaiyudh resigned. However, he remained tight lipped who the new deputy prime minister was and when the cabinet reshuffle would happen. (TNA)
