Bangkok, the 12th of February 2010 [Pattaya Daily News]: Mr. Wiwitwin Teosawat [42] a recycling trader was arrested on Friday by Bangkok Metropolitan Police at his home in Nawamin, Bangkok. Mr. Teosawat was arrested after a police investigation into the incident involving human excrement being thrown at the Prime Ministers house revealed him as the offender.

During interrogation Mr. Teosawat confessed to being the culprit, stating that he had committed the offence out of frustration with the police and Bangkok Metropolitan Administration Officials who ignored his complaints regarding a group of teenagers persistently smoking near his home. Further stating that; their persistent smoking was affecting his daughter’s health.

After media reports speculated that it was a politically motivated attack, Mr. Teosawat firmly denied being involving with any sort of anti-government campaign, stating that he had also thrown excrement at the home of the Bangkok Governor Sukhumbhand Paribatra.

Police now believe that Mr. Teosawat acted alone and had targeted the Prime Ministers residence as he is a figurehead for the nation. Reports that the man was mentally unstable have also been denied by the police.

The Bangkok Court had initially sentenced him to 10 days jail, however; this was halved to 5 due to the admission of guilt. The police have also requested that an order be placed barring him from the area surrounding the Prime Ministers home. Mr. Teosawat will serve his prison sentence at Bangkok’s Thong Lor Police Station.
