A team of police and rescue workers from the Sawang Boriboon Foundation attended the accident scene.

Officers arrived at the scene to find that a blue Isuzu Dragon Eye pickup was severely crushed and buckled on the roadside a few meters away from the Hino 18-wheeler truck that it had collided with. Inside the vehicle police discovered 3 victims who had been seriously injured and could not escape the wreckage along with the remains of several whisky bottles. The victims; Mr. Sombut Mingmut [28], Mr. Phanthakorn Phonorg [27] and Mr. Jongruk Phuangjampa were cut from the wreckage by rescue workers and taken to the Banglamung Hospital for treatment.

Police interrogated Mr. Amnuay [50], the driver of the 18-wheeler who revealed that he had been sitting in the u-turn lane waiting to proceed when the victim’s pickup proceeded to slam into the side of the trailer whilst travelling at high speed.

A report was made on the incident and the evidence was collected at which point police released a statement explaining that the accident was a result of the drivers intoxication and the speed at which it was travelling.
