SATTAHIP – October 24, 2012 [Pattaya Daily News]; at 6:30 p.m., a report of gas leaking from a bus was received by Mr. Narong Boonbanjerdsri, the Lord Mayor of Sattahip. So he dispatched the fire truck with the officers from the unit of public protection and disaster relief and the rescue officers of Sawangrojjanathammasathan Sattahip foundation.

The abandoned bus was parked on Sukhumvit Road, at the entrance to Pattaya km. 174/500, at the U-turn opposite to the PTT petrol pump, Moo 2 Tambon Sattahip, Amphur Sattahip, Chonburi province.

At the scene, officials found the bus, Khaophong route Sattahip-Chonburi, number 1631J-9, license number 10-1756 Chonburi. The vehicle was parked attached next to a traffic island at the U-turn.

There was NGV gas blowing out from the engine with a bad smell all over the area. Officials discovered that 3 tanks of NGV gas set up on the right side of the bus were leaking from the valves. The rescue officials closed the valves and called the technician to check and repair the equipment.

During questioning, the bus driver Mr. Boonchob Prasinderm, age 45, the driver, said he had earlier dropped off the passengers he had picked up from Chonburi province in front of the Command Unit of Marine Corps.

After he dropped the people off, he made a U-turn to refill NGV gas within PTT petrol pump before returning to park the bus in the garage. But after he left the pump, he only drove for about 200 meters when the bus engine began sputtering, then the engine suddenly died. There was a sound of the gas leaking, and smoky fumes were emitting from the gas tank. So Mr. Boonchob and the two bus boys escaped from the bus. They then notified authorities.
