People Left In Distress Over Gas Leak

The carbon dioxide leak has left many village people in distress as experts have yet to determine the toxicity level of the gas

Lamchabang, 7 June 2011 [Pattaya Daily News]: Lamchabang Police was informed that a truck’s carbon dioxide tank had leaked into the area of Lamchabang Industrial Estate, Moo 3, Sriracha, Chonburi.

The police along with the Disaster Prevention and Mitigation of Lamchabang were at the scene.
Firemen were hosing down the carbon dioxide fume while chemical experts examined the toxicity level of the gas, an officer said.

 

The driver, Anusit Phangchan reported that after he smelt the fume emitted from the truck, he stopped the vehicle and discovered that the valve of the tank was broken leading to the carbon dioxide leak.
The gas is not poisonous to inhale, Anusit reassured the public.

Lamchabang rescue team took over one hour to wash down the carbon dioxide fume but they could not cease the emission entirely, the police said.

The people living in the area were very concerned for their health as chemical experts have not yet determine the poisonousness level of the gas.
