Jakkarin Tuasuphap, Deputy Superintendent; together with Mr. Netiwat Phiromplad, Public Health officer, Amphur Banglamung; and Mr. Sang Cheau-sawat, pharmacist of Banglamung hospital. The warrant was issued by Pattaya provincial court, 394/2555 dated October 29, 2012.

The 2-story, detached luxury house was located at 67/31 Wannathip 1 village, Soi Nernplubwan, Moo 5 Tambon Nong Preu, Amphur Banglamung. A police investigation led to the discovery of the house that was used to store prohibited drugs not approved by the FDA and smuggled to sell falsely under standard brand names.

Arriving officers at the scene found Ms. La-ongdao Montri, age 20, sitting with her mother in the house. So the police showed them the court warrant and began to search the first-floor room.

Officers found and seized many prohibited drugs on shelves that filled the room. They found drugs to enhance sexual ability, as well as diet coffee, whitening face cream, Glutathione, and other supplementary foods. The products were valued at more than 500,000 THB.

During questioning, Ms. La-ongdao said she had been selling the products to her Pattaya customers for about a year. She had been ordering the products from an agent at Rong Kleu market, Amphur Aranyaprathet, Sakaew province. Ms. La-ongdao has been previously arrested three times for the same offense of peddling illegal products.

However, she claimed to be only storing the Glutathione. The product is suspected of causing in the death of someone who was injected with it. Supposedly Glutathione has anti-aging properties and also whitens skin. Ms. La-ongdao claimed that the Glutathione found in her house actually belonged to her friend “Ms. Poo” (alias).

She said that Ms. Poo had been injecting her clients with Glutathione, but stopped after hearing that someone had died from the injections. So Ms. Poo was afraid of being blamed if her clients died, so she stopped injecting her customers a month ago. She had asked Ms. La-ongdao to store the Glutathione for her.

The public health officer Mr. Netiwat Phiromplad said most of the seized drugs were supplementary foods not approved by the FDA, including the diet coffee which is dangerous to the body. As for the Glutathione, Mr. Netiwat said that only authorized medical professionals are permitted to inject the supplement to patients under supervised medical treatment.

Pol. Col. Somneuk Jankate revealed that the police had been investigating the source of the prohibited drugs, and had discovered that Ms. La-ongdao was smuggling and selling the products. So the police followed her customers until they located her house. They then obtained the search warrant from Pattaya provincial court and conducted the raid.

Initially, the police charged Ms. La-ongdao with violating the Customs Act and the Food and Drug Act by ordering or importing drugs that were not registered into the Kingdom. They sent her to the investigation officer to prosecute further according to the law.
