Pattaya’s Large Amount of Garbage is a Serious Effect

Pattaya cleaning and environment committees has discussed the ever growing problem of the amount of garbage in Pattaya and Koh-Lan Island. The amount of garbage being produced is to much for the amount of collection trucks.

PATTAYA-April 29, 2014 [Pattaya Daily News];  at Pattaya City Hall Mr.Aumnuaythanawit Sompongtham-chief of Pattaya cleaning and environment committees-chaired the Pattaya cleaning and environment’s conference. Those involved were committee members, community leaders, company representatives and agents attended the conference.

Mr.Aumnuaythanawit Sompong revealed that they were to discuss the issue of the garbage problems in Pattaya and Koh-Lan Island in order to solve it. Villagers and tourists have complained about the issue to Pattaya City Hall. There are around 400 tons of garbage and rubbish left on the beaches and streets which is collected up each month around Pattaya and and Koh-Lan Island.

Mr.Sanit Boonmacahi- member of Pattaya City Hall- said that the garbage company claimed that the amount of refuse collection vehicles are insufficient. On Koh-Lan Island the issue is more serious than Pattaya because they can collect 10 tons per day but there are 20-30 tons of garbage per day.

Mr.Wutthisak Rermkitjakarn- vice-mayor of Pattaya- revealed that a clean up along Pattaya and Jomtien beaches has been ordered because they are the selling points of Pattaya and that the problem is a very serious issue and everybody needs to take action.
