Police Lieutenant Colonel Eakdit Srimoon of the Dongtan police district was notified at 3:30 pm and a police team including Police Colonel Teerapol Jindaloung, acting temporarily on behalf of the Pattaya Superintendent, together with the rescue services, were dispatched to the scene of the crime at house no. 407/160 Karn Kehha Tehpprasit , Moo. 12 Nongprue, Banglamung.

At the single brick house, many onlookers were gathered around the dead body of Miss Pawinee Rattanachok or Mam [22] , which was lying on the floor in the bathroom. She was wearing shorts with a patterned shirt and a singlet. Her body was soaked from many slash wounds to her neck, face and hands. She had also sustained wounds to her head and her body was covered with blood.

On arrival Police estimated she had been dead for about 30 minutes. In the room there was evidence of fighting with bloodstains everywhere. Police found her bra, a gold necklace and some of her hair on the bed, but there was no sign of a murder weapon. Her body was sent for autopsy.

The vicitm’s boyfriend, Mr. Watcharapong Dokjunree [19] , told police he wasn’t with her at the time of her death. He had gone to visit his mother who ran a laundry shop in South Pattya. He said his girlfriend, Miss. Pawinee, told him that her friend, Mr. Golf or Wisanu Garpjun [21], would be coming to see her to help him take a ring to a pawn shop. When Mr. Watcharapong came home, he was shocked to find the dead, blood soaked body of his girlfriend and immediately notified the police.

He went on to say that he had spoken to his neighbour and found out that 20 minutes after he had left, a Thai man [Mr. Golf, the suspect] had arrived on a blue Honda Wave 125 to see the victim and they ended up having a serious argument. The neighbour thought the fight was between him (Mr. Watcharapong) and his girlfriend so no one wanted to interfere even though they heard her screaming for help.

Witnesses saw the suspect [Mr. Golf] leave the room 10 minutes after the victim’s screams had stopped. His body was covered with blood.

Police Colonel Teerapol Jindaloung ordered his team to search for Mr. Golf and found out that he lived in the Park Roongreung village in Soi Kaotalow. The police’s initial theory is that the suspect wanted the victim’s help in pawning a ring [which he had stolen from his mother] but she had refused, leading to the big fight and her subsequent murder.

Police are confident Mr. Golf will be arrested and brought to justice very soon. Meanwhile, the victim’s family members were informed some of whom fainted at the news of her death.
