Pattaya Vegetarian Festival, 21-31 October 2006

At Pattaya City Hall, Mr. Vatana Jantanawaranont, Deputy Mayor presided over a meeting to discuss the Pattaya Vegetarian Festival 2006, joined by the members of Pattaya City Council, committees from the Sawangboriboon Foundation together with their staffs and officers.

This year the festival falls from 21-31 October, in which on the 21 October will be the religious ceremony in welcoming the Chinese God, Seng Ti Tee, for this first day there will be a grand procession consisting of Dragon Dance from Bangkok. The highlight of this festival is the World largest pot of vegetarian soup and pan of Fried Rice.

The procession will start of the Bali Hai Piere pass Walking Street turn right into South Pattaya Road, when they get to the junction of Wat Chaimongkol, the procession will separate into 2 lines. Line 1 will make a turn into Pattaya 2nd Road proceeded up to the Central Pattaya, come up to the junction of 3rd Road in front of Telecommunication Center. The procession will stop there and wait for the bus to pick them up and continue to Sawang Fah temple to start a new procession.

Line 2 will go straight to Wat Chaimongkol market pass Day-Night till they come to Pattaya 3rd Road junction where they will stop and continue on a bus to Sawang Fah Temple in Naklua to form a new procession. After the formation they will proceed to the Lan Poh Beach to perform religious ceremony to invite the Goddess “Giew Auang Huk Joh”, to be present during the Pattaya Vegetarian Festival 2006. The World largest pot of soup and pan of fried rice will be distributed. In the evening at the foundation there will be a ceremony of joss stick walk and performance from the Dragon Dance Team from Pak Nam Poh, Bangkok.
