At 8.30 pm on 23rd January, Tourist Police investigator Pol.Lt.Col. Suwan Oun-Anan and his team arrested Choi Seokhyun [32] , a Korean National, following a tip off from staff at the South Pattaya branch of the Top Charoen Opticians located at Moo. 10, Nongprue.

Staff had informed police by phone that 2 tourists were attempting to use a fake credit card in their shop. One of the suspects, another Korean national, managed to escape before the police arrived.

On the remaining suspect police found 13 fake credit cards, a Siam Commercial Bank credit card slip payment for 20,000 Won [about 14 US dollars] , a black bag and a passport no. YP 1709856 which were all confiscated by police as evidence.

Mr. Choi Seokhyun told police the credit cards belonged to his friend, who had escaped. Police didn’t believe his story and suspect him to be part of a network of professional international gangs which use secret contacts around the globe and sophisticated technology and methods to escape detection by the authorities.

Police took the Korean into custody for further investigation.
