Pattaya Thief Wounded In a Gun Battle with Cops

Banglamung police was about to arrest a known suspect who had escaped an arrest warrant. Suddenly the the suspect pulled a gun and shot at the police, robbed a motorbike and escaped. Later he was shot by the police in the head and seriously wounded.

PATTAYA – May 2, 2012 [Pattaya Daily News]; Pol. Col. Somneuk Jankate, Banglamung police station was notified by detectives from Banglamung police station, Chonburi province led by Pol. Lt. Col. Nit Vithinunthakit, about a arrest of a suspect charged with serious criminal offences.

Moments later the two suspects left the vehicle and tried to escape but one suspect was arrested and another suspect pulled out a gun and fired at the police and ran away, direction Sukhumvit road and to Numchai shop, Central Pattaya near TESCO Lotus trying to steal a motorbike at gunpoint. A shootout with the police began. the police shot the suspect in self defence, who was severely wounded.

The incident was reported to Pol. Col. Suvicharn Yankittikul, Deputy Commissioner, Chonburi province, Pol. Lt. Col. Jakkarin Tuasuphap, Deputy Superintendent Pol. Lt. Col. and the Forensic Science officer.

At the scene of the shooting the police team found the suspect named Mr. ” Off ” shot once in the head, lying on the ground near the motorbike, a Honda Click, white color, license number NGOR BOR SOR-491 Chonburi.


The suspect had robbed the bike of Ms. Illiya Intharat, age 25 and he was still carrying a revolver, caliber .45 mm and a black bag attached to his waist. All the items were seized as evidence and inspected by the forensic team. Later the police said that, Mr. “Off” the suspect was wanted by the police for a string of criminal offences. Pol. Col. Suvicharn Yankittikul concluded: During the arrest the suspect started firing at the police. The suspect was hit and severely wounded but luckily nor the police neither the locals were injured in this Pattaya shootout.
