Pol. Lt. Col. Chonapat Nawaluk, Pattaya Deputy Superintendent, announced that at 01.00 am, on 15 May, his team had arrested a small-time drug dealer, Mr. Nipon aka Ek with a single Yah bah tablet at the entrance of Siam Country Club Road, off the Sukhumvit Road. The police team had been informed that the suspect, Mr. Nipon [32] from Nongprue, Banglamung was a well-known drug dealer with a regular clientele among local teenagers.

A police spokesman reported that Nipon had confessed that he regularly bought 50 Yah Bah tablets every day for Bt9000 from a Mrs. Noo, the main dealer. He then filled drinking straws with 10 tablets each, which he then sold individually for Bt2000 to teenagers. According to the police, Nipon has been operating his business for a long time.

After Nipon’s confession, police accompanied him to search his house in Moo. 6 Nong Prue, but found no evidence. Later on, a police sting operation was set up whereby Nipon had to call Mrs. Noo to buy more Yah Bah. He then made an appointment to meet the lady-dealer at room no. 218, on the Second Floor of Kornsiri Apartment, South Pattaya. Police then hid nearby and waited for the rendezvous time.

At 2.00 am, Nipon and a plain-clothed police officer sauntered over to the room. At that moment, the cautious Mrs. Noo realized she was about to be caught in a police trap and beat a hasty retreat out of the back door, ran down the stairs and out into the bush behind the apartment, where she hid. 20 police officers and volunteers had already blocked the bush in anticipation and began searching for her, but she still managed to escape.

Police searched her room and found 8 bags of Yah Bah, each containing 200 tablets, a total of1600 tablets. They were hidden in the bedside drawers. They also found a mobile phone and her ID. Card which identified her by her real name, Mrs. Somjai Naksooksai, [42] , residing at 138 / 253 Moo. 3 Takientia, Banglamung.

Police impounded all the evidence and registered the crime to request an arrest warrant for Mrs. Somjai aka Noo so as to bring her to justice post haste.
