Pattaya, the 11th of December 2009 [Pattaya Daily News]: Police Lieutenant Colonel Phongsawat Wongwarn (Pattaya police investigator), received a report at approximately 9:00pm on Friday night, from a staff member at the Midtown Hotel, Pratamnak Road. The employee explained that a foreign man had been drugged in his hotel room and was in need of assistance. A team of police officers went to the scene to investigate.

Upon arriving at the 2nd floor hotel room, officers were confronted by Mr Detlef Stanklat (alias) [67], a German national. Mr. Stanklat was in a stunned and confused state, also sporting a severely black right eye. His hotel room was in disarray, evidently as a result of a search for valuables by the suspects. Although Mr. Stanklat was still fairly affected by the drug he was able to give the police at the scene a brief statement of the night events.

Mr. Stanklat explained that he had been for a walk around South Pattaya, namely in Walking Street. After his walk he decided to return to his hotel room. Before he had reached the Midtown Hotel he was confronted by two Thai ladies standing out the front of the local 7-Eleven. The ladies subsequently offered Mr. Stanklat their sexual services which he agreed to, bringing the pair back to his room.

Mr. Stanklat divulged to officers that once the trio had entered his room the ladies started to give him a massage. After a short while one of the girls offered him a drink that they had prepared earlier, sensing no malice in either of the ladies he regretfully drank the substance. Following which, he started to get a headache and his vision became blurry. It was at this point that he realised that he had been drugged by the two girls.

Mr. Stanklat decided to try and escape the room in order to inform his neighbours or hotel staff of the incident; however the two ladies attacked, punching him in the face knocking him unconscious. When he awoke he realised that the 2 girls had gone taking with them his notebook, digital camera, 2,000 Euros, 1,500 Baht and various other belongings, amounting to in excess of 200,000 Baht. Police have recorded Mr. Stanklat’s statement and will now carry on with the investigation, in an attempt to bring the two offenders to justice.
