Pattaya School -7 Annual Sports Day

Pattaya, August 28,[PDN]: Friday 28th August 2009, every year each of the primary schools in the Pattaya City region hold their own sports day, and events generally depend on the size of facilities available. However,”track and field” events are always very popular, and these offer great spectator viewing.

Each house group has its own multi level spectator stand, which can seat up to around two hundred people, so this can make a very powerful “cheer squad,” as each stand is equipped with a loud set of traditional style Thai drums.

If you spend some time watching the sports you will soon discover that the most exciting events are the short distance divisions of the relay races, with plenty of speed and effort being expended. No “running dead” for the punters, every young athlete is putting in his or her maximum effort for the team, to end up in the prestigious number one position.

For foreign expats and visitors these school sports days go largely unnoticed, but they are a great day of entertainment and fun for everyone. Do not worry about taking your own food and drinks as there is a wide range available on the spot, to cater for hundreds of hungry students. Foreign visitors would be welcome to watch and give the kids a bit of moral support, or help out on the day if help was required. (Maybe this could be organized into bus tour sports trips that could even raise some extra funds for the schools).
