Pattaya, November 8, 2010,[Pattaya Daily News]: A Chonburi real estate agent, Mr. Sutham Pasarigung [37] from Banglamung, reported to Pattaya Police, at approximately 6am, Nov8, that he had been shot in the stomach by a Karaoke bar owner-friend in an altercation over a car.

Mr. Sutham recounted to police that he had driven his new Mercedes Benz SLK 200 Sports into Numthip Karaoke Bar car park on Pattaya 3rd Road, intent on having a drink. When the Karaoke owner, Mr. Sophon, who was also an immigration police volunteer and a friend of long standing, saw the car, he asked Mr. Sutham if he could take it for a drive, to which he agreed.

Mr. Sophon took the car for a spin, but when parking it again in the bar car park, he managed to graze the footpath and scratched the bumper. On seeing the damage, the aggrieved Mr. Sutham then asked his friend to arrange to have the damage repaired, at which point, Mr. Sophon, who was now in an intoxicated state, replied “how many holes do you want me to pay for?” before going to get a gun.

Mr. Sutham told police that, initially, he had thought that Mr. Sophon would only shoot his car, but instead the Karaoke bar owner pointed the gun at him and fired. Mr. Sutham attempted to dodge the bullet, but was shot in the right side of his stomach. Mr. Sophon had then apparently unconcernedly gone back into his bar, whilst Mr. Pasarigung went to Bangkok-Pattaya Hotel for treatment before informing the police about the incident

Pattaya Police duly arrested the assailant who was questioned extensively before being remanded into custody to await trial.
