Pattaya Police Catch Gang of Loan Sharks Operating on the Eastern Seaboard

Banglamung police arrested an gang of loan sharks operating with high interest rates.Nine staff members were arrested and the police seized notebooks and accounting documents and name lists of customers.Their cash turnover was circa 2 million THB per day. The police revealed that the operation was controlled a by a big investor in Uthaithani province.

PATTAYA – March 12, 2012 [Pattaya Daily News]; Pol. Capt. Kornpong Sukvisit, Banglamung police and Pol. Capt. Siribancha Khobjai brought a special force to arrest a gang of loan sharks at a house located in 165 Moo 8 Tambon Nong, Banglamung, Chonburi province.

The arrested gang members were aged 20-25 years. The police was notified by the local people that loan sharks were threatening to beat up the debtors, most of them vendors, factory employees and the owners of small businesses.

 

At the crime scene the police found notebooks concerning money collection from customers across the entire Eastern Seaboard.The person believed to be the gang leader is Mr. Pongsathorn Nommil, age 36 who confessed that he had been running the loan sharking business for a period of time.

The police brought all of the suspects and the evidence to Banglamung police station where further investigation is awaiting the loan shark gang.
