Pattaya Organizes Thai Ball Games for Princess trophy

Pattaya city released the news of organizing Youth Thai Ball Games and Pattaya Cup Thai Ball Games (Cepak Takraw) 2008, for the trophy of Princess Somsawalee and the top prize of 15,000 Baht. The Games will be on 9 ? 10 and 15 ? 17 of August, at Physical Education building of Pattaya school # 7 (Baan Nong-bpang-kare)

Pattaya August 8th, 2008, Mr. Wattana Jantanawaranon, deputy mayor of Pattaya city, chaired to release the news of Youth Thai Ball Games and Pattaya Cup Thai Ball Games (Cepak Takraw) 2008, for the trophy of Princess Somsawalee, together with competition committee and the athletes from many provinces in Thailand, at room No. 131, Pattaya city hall.

As Pattaya city is a suitable place for organizing recreation activities such as: Leisure and many kinds of Sports, Cepak Takraw is one of the most interesting Sports in the country and aboard. Thailand had been thoroughly on the top of the world for this game.

Pattaya city had recognized the importance in developing this game to be more advance in order to publicize the image of Pattaya for Sports. Therefore, the management of Pattaya city had assigned to Recreation and Sports Education Office in Pattaya to organize Youth Thai Ball Games and Pattaya Cup Thai Ball Games (Cepak Takraw) 2008, for the trophy of Princess Somsawalee. This coming Games will be divided in 2 groups:

The 1st Group will be in 4 Categories: Category A (Overall), Category B (forbidden for Thai national team and Thai league from the 5th ? 7th to enter the competition), Category C (age above 35), and Category D (age above 40), which will be competing on 15 ? 17 August 2008. 

The 2nd Group will be in 2 Categories: 1. Age under 14 (Male and Female), 2. Age under 16 (Male and Female), which will be competing on 9 ? 10 August 2008. The champion of Category A would be presented with a trophy of Princess Somsawalee and the prize of 15,000 Baht. The 1st runner up would receive a trophy of Princess Somsawalee and the prize of 10,000 Baht. And the 2nd runner up would receive a trophy of Princess Somsawalee and the prize of 6,000 Baht.

The champion of Category B would be presented with a trophy of Princess Somsawalee and the prize of 10,000 Baht. The 1st runner up would receive an honorable trophy and the prize of 7,000 Baht. And the 2nd runner up would receive an honorable trophy and the prize of 5,000 Baht.

And for the champion of Category C and D would be presented an honorable trophy and the prize of 6,000 Baht. The 1st runner up would receive a trophy and the prize of 4,000 Baht and the 2nd runner up would receive an honorable trophy and the prize of 3,000 Baht.

For the Youth Games in Category 1 (Age under 14 and under 16), there will be 4 champion titles for Male and Female, receiving 1,500 Baht for each prize (6,000 in total) and an honorable trophy. The 1st runner up also has 4 titles, receiving 1,000 Baht (4,000 in total) and an honorable trophy. And 2nd runner up has 8 titles, receiving 300 Baht (2,400 Baht in total) and an honorable trophy.

Mr. Wattana Jantanawaranon, deputy mayor of Pattaya city said that this Youth Thai Ball Games and Pattaya Cup Thai Ball Games (Cepak Takraw) 2008, for the trophy of Princess Somsawalee, is to promote the image of Pattaya city in Tourism and Sports. It is to develop Cepak Takraw’s skill and promote the Games to be more well known in Pattaya city. Besides, it is also permitting the people to do the exercise during their free time and away from drugs. The Sports will provide a chance to people to have moral principle and good spirit in Sports as well. Mr. Wattana said
