Pattaya Officials To Change Traffic Direction On Sukhumvit Road

Pattaya officials have discussed the new traffic direction and lay out during the construction of the new Pattaya Tunnel.

PATTAYA – February 24,2015 [Pattaya Daily News]; at Pattaya City Hall, Mr.Ronnakit Aekasing-deputy mayor of Pattaya-, Mr.Pakorn Sukonchart-deputy chief of Pattaya- had discussed with the officers of the Department of Rural Roads, police officers, civil volunteer and municipal officers in order to control the traffic during the construction of the Central Pattaya tunnel.

 

Mr.Ronnakit revealed that the traffic congestion is unavoidable and the officials expected it to take around 800 days to complete the 2km long tunnel. The new traffic rules will be enforced at 06.00 am of 25th February until the tunnel is completed.

 

Pol.Col.Pisit Proyrungrueng-deputy commander- said that the officers intended to enforce a one way system on the Sukhumvit road affecting Siam Country Club road and Nern Plubwan road. The vehicles will be forced to turn left and can make a U-turn at Watnongyai temple. The officials will also enforce a one way system form soi Khaonoi and soi Khao Talo road for vehicles heading towards the Sukhumvit road.

 

Also two lanes on the Sukhumvit road will be closed in order to construct the tunnel. Mr.Pakorn said that the officials will ask for around 1 million baht from the contractor for Nong Prue police station so that they can install new traffic signs and Pattaya official will spend around 10 million baht to install new signs in the area for local people during the construction.
