PATTAYA– October 20, 2014 [Pattaya Daily News]; at 13.30 pm at Pattaya City Hall Dr.Weerawat Khakhai-deputy mayor of Pattaya-chaired the Pattaya conference about how to cope with the flooding problems in Pattaya. There were Pattaya members and officials attending the conference.

On 19 October at 13.00 pm there was heavy rain in Pattaya which caused flooding in many areas. Plus peoples houses had been damaged by the flooding.

Dr.Weerawat said that nowadays the drains etc in Pattaya were insufficient because Pattaya had grown very fast and a lot of buildings had been constructed which had but too much strain on the sewer system. Also the natural run off of the rain water back into the sea was obstructed by buildings which held it back.

The Marine department has planned to construct a drainage pipe to drain the water to the sea. Three pipes will be constructed at 200 meters long. Plus the pipes will reduce the water level in South Pattaya canal, and Pattaya will also construct underground drainage pipes in the future said Dr.Weerawat.
