Pattaya Musicians Face Difficulty

PATTAYA – Recently [PattayaDailyNews]; The journalist interviewed some Pattaya musicians about way of life and job which have been changed because of global economy.

 

Watee Sutthidee, a musician who has 30 years experience in Pattaya, said that he became musician in Pattaya after his graduation. At that moment, it was the boom of live music industry in Pattaya. He claimed that he used to earn 10,000 baht tip in one day.

 

Thirty years ago, hoteliers and bar owners always hired a band to make live show. Nowadays, there are varieties of music category and the number of artists have also increased continuously. Meanwhile, the operators now would rather hire solo artist than a gig.

 

Ronnachai Ruengsi, a solo artist, said that a solo artist can become famous in short time and one artist can create a good performance as same as a band can do it. On the other hand, the number of band has decreased slowly.

 

Aekapong Khamsila, musician with 15 years experience, revealed that he has to find more bars and make more shows. He works harder but he earns less income.
