Loan Shark Gang Fatally Stab & Shoot Debtor

Pattaya police arrested a gang of loan shark debt collectors one of them claiming to be a military officer after the gang stabbed and shot to death the debtor who died in front of his wife after refusing to pay.

Sriracha, September 9, 2011[Pattaya Daily News]; Pol. Lt. Gen. Tha-ngai Prassajaksattru Director General of Police Bureau 2 and Pol. Col. Theerapol Jindaluang Deputy Director General of Police Bureau Chonburi arrested the gang: Mr Komsan Toreung or “Muadkom” age 28, the leader of the gang, Mr Prasit Sukcharoen age 48, professional hit man who shot the debtor and Mr Krissada Phasuk age 39. The weapon was a Smith & Wesson caliber .38 driving and the gang drove a grey Isuzu pickup-truck BOR WOR-5184 Chonburi.

At 15:30 hrs August 16, 2011 the gang arrived at the the house of the debtor, Mr Thanet Pinngarm age 34, occupation motorbike rental employee who was not at home. The gang waited for the debtor at a restaurant and got drunk. When Mr Thanet arrived they asked for the outstanding amount of 5,000 THB. Mr Thanet and his wife had not paid back the loan in spite of several demands. This time Mr Thanet, the debtor pulled out a knife and started stabbing at Mr Prasit’s arm. Mr Prasit became furious and shot Mr Thanet twice, who fell to the ground. Thereafter Mr Krissada and Mr Lak stabbed Mr Thanet until he died. Then they jumped into the into the pick truck and escaped.

After the shooting & stabbing Pol. Col. Vittaya Sriprasertparb Superintendent Nongkharm and Pol. Maj. Anek Butintr arrested three of the three culprits. One gang member Mr Lak Munyuen managed to escape. All of the suspects confessed on charges of murder and carrying weapon without license. An arrest warrant was issued for Mr Lek.

For Mr Sompong Penngarmdee age 60, the creditor was arrested later. Mr Sompong claimed he told the gang only to collect the debt but but not to kill the debtor.

Pol. Lt. Gen. Tha-ngai said the police will implement stricter measures to control the illegal money lending in order to avoid to tragic event like this.
