PATTAYA – July 31, 2014 [Pattaya Daily News];- Pattaya police officers rushed to Bali Hai pier after they were notified by the marine department officers that they had received a complaint from Chinese tourist. The tourists complained to the marine officers that they had hit a reef very slightly causing a small scratch but the owners demanded a large amount of money for the repair.

At the scene the police officers found Mr.Suradech Matrong-a marine officer who told the police that man and woman from China had complained to him that they had rented a jet ski from Mr.Narongdech Sukkul aged 21 at Bali Hai pier, South Pattaya. They had ridden the jet ski in a prohibited area and had hit a reef causing some minor scratches to the jet ski. Mr.Narongdech then asked them for 15,000 baht to cover the damage.

However the officers checked the condition of Jet Ski and they found that there were just some small scratches on it. Therefore the officers had tried to discuss with Mr.Narongdech to lower the cost down because he had asked for a large amount of money for such a small repair. Finally Mr.Narongdech compromised and decreased the cost from 15,000 to 2,000 baht.

Later the marine officers inspected Mr.Narongdech and they found out that his permission had expired and he had also prohibited to operate in that area.

The reporters revealed that these jet ski operators have always collected a large amount of money for the so called repairs which didn’t even need repairing and had been doing it for a very long time.
