RSI had proposed to organize King Jazz Festival 2006 to celebrate the sixtieth anniversary of His Majesty the King’s accension to the Throne and it would be part of the “Thailand Grand Invitation” Project.

This concert will be touring to many places and will be held in Pattaya on 11th December 2006 at 16.00-24.00 hrs. Attending the concert will be various international artists participating, namely Kenny G, Jamie Callum, McCoy Tyner, Dizzy Gillespie, James Moody, Bamboo Quintet, Regina Carter, Chick Corea, Tim Reis, Georgie Frame and Cu Bop.
On 17th July 2006, a conference regarding the organizing of the event was held in room 305 of Pattaya City Hall, RSI Dream company, who is a host organizer for this concert, has proposed to use the areas of Bali Hai Pier to stage this concert. As it is considered to be the best location with breathtaking view of the beach and with a panoramic view over the mountains in the background, making Bali Hai Pier an ideal spot to hold such event.

Unfortunately, due to the scale and nature of the concert, being so large and popular and fee payable, the City fears that if the event were to be held at the Pier, it would mean that they would have to shut down the ferry services, leaving and coming to the pier. This would inconvenience a lot of ferry users as well as road users, because the pier has only a limited parking space.

Mr. Niran Wattanasatsathorn, Pattaya City Mayor and members of his cabinet MPs have advised RSI to change a location for holding the venue. Two obvious choice of locations came to mind, one of them is the Public Park of the Indoor Stadium in Soi Chaiyaprue,k or Sukawadee House. Pattaya City Hall is currently in talk with owners of both locations.
