Pattaya International Bed Race 2011.

Pattaya City and Rotary Club organised the third event of the international Pattaya Bed Race, to support and promote Pattaya City as a tourist centre, and to establish unity amongst tourists and locals as participants of the event.

Pattaya 30th January 2011 – At 19.00 in front of Central Festival Pattaya, on Beach Rd., Mr. Ithipon Khunpluem chaired the opening event of the International Pattaya Bed Race 2011, the third of its kind. With  Mr. Nils Colov – chairmain of the organization, Mr. Sran Tantijamran,Manager of Central, Mr.Nhophdon Saengma and the President of the Rotary Club Pattaya, and honoured guests, along with 30 teams of participants of the race. The event caught the attention of many tourists, Thais and foreigners, who gathered to watch the opening ceremony.

Mayor Ithipon Khunpluem said that in this year’s Bed Race, there are 30 teams participating, showing their various competitive styles and the forms of their beds, which will be judged in 4 categories: speed, beauty, creativity, and popularity.

The purpose of this competition is to  promote the image of Pattaya as a tourism centre and to build solidarity and unity between the participating teams.

The prizewinners in each category are:
Speed : The bed of the Pattaya police station, receiving the honours cup
Beauty:  The bed of the special investigations department, Pattaya ( DSL )
Creativity: The bed of the group called “Boys Town”
Popular Vote: The bed of the group called “Pattaya X-Pack Club”
and a special team award for “Tez Tour”
