Pattaya Intensifies its Control of Motorcycle Taxis

The Military commander met with the deputy mayor of Pattaya to discuss the progress of the motorcycle taxi control project. Also inspectors went out to inspect motor bike taxi stations and riders.

PATTAYA – July 3, 2014 [Pattaya Daily News];- at 10.00 am. At Pattaya City Hall Col.Khom Wiriyawetchakul-commander of the 14th MILITARY CIRCLE- met with Mr.Ronnakit Aekasing-deputy mayor of Pattaya- in order to inspect the progress of the motorcycle taxi control project according to NCPO order.

At the meeting they discussed the problems such as motorcycle taxi riders sending their relatives to register instead of them, also some riders complained about the registration fee and that the amount they had to charge customers was too low because the cost of living in Pattaya was high so they needed to charge more. However the director still insisted to keep the fare at a low price and standard because the representatives from 14th military circle needed to discuss and set a new fair fare price for the taxi riders in Pattaya.

 

Mr.Ronnakit Aekasing-deputy mayor of Pattaya- revealed that the 14th military circle’srepresentatives had met him because they needed to follow up the progress and acknowledgements, problems and obstacles that had come up since the last meeting.

After the conference the officers from 14th military circle, police and Pattaya officers divided into 4 teams to inspect Pattaya Sai 3 road, Pattaya Klang, Pattaya Sai 1 road, Walking Street, Pattaya tai Road and Bali Hai pier. They then recorded each motorcycle taxi station, name, location and number. Also they asked the riders if they had registered. In addition they had ordered the riders to park their bikes at 45 degrees in order to make more space on the road. Plus they had ordered that the motorcycle taxi riders not to wear shorts and slippers while riding. Motorcycle taxi control project is still available for registration until July 15th from 09.00 am-16.30 pm.
