Banglamung Police Investigator Pol. Lt. Col. Kunawut Chainual was notified at 3:00 am and a response team was dispatched to investigate.

At the scene they found a crowd of onlookers gathered around the area. A pool of blood was found on the floor near a snooker table. The victim, Mr. Kunnapat Chanchaithong [16], had already been taken to the Bangkok Pattaya Hospital by his relatives. His name was Mr. Kunnapat Chanchaithong [16]. He had been shot through the left and his condition was described as critical.

A witness, Mr. Keaw [Alias] [18], told police that while he and his friends [about 10 people in all] were playing snooker and drinking, a man on a motorbike was riding around in the Soi, as if he was looking for someone.

Thirty minutes later, a white Honda Jazz with no number plate appeared. As the car passed by, the rear window was wound down and a man in the back seat pointed a gun and started firing at everyone around the snooker table until the gun ran out of bullets.

Mr. Keaw identified the shooter as Mr. Mac and the driver was Mr. Aut. They were accompanied by another 2 friends in the car. He said the shooter’s gang were members of the “Naklua Gang” who had been fighting with them for a long time.

After the shooting the gang drove away fast leaving Mr. Kunnapat or “Za” seriously injured on the floor.

Mr. Keaw said the “Naklua Gang” had been chasing and shooting at them in the middle of last year and the gang leader was previously “TAO Naklua” or “TAO Pachajeen” who was shot dead in Pattaya last year.

Police said that the driver of the car, Mr. Aut, had a long police record and was currently on the run, wanted on charges involving many criminal cases. The motive for the murder could be anything including revenge from an enemy or drugs related. Police will follow up on their investigations and hopefully find the killer soon.

Notes:

Mr. Krisada Ponpaipal (22), otherwise known as “Tao Pachajeen”, a notorious Naklua gang member, was brutally shot at the entrance of Sukhumvit Soi 22 ( Soi Susan Gao towards the old Chinese cemetery), Nongprue, Banglamung, on 21st October at 2.00 pm. At the time Tao was wanted by the police and was shot dead while riding his motorbike with his girlfriend in Pattaya.

A black Toyata Vios car drove close to their side with a half wound down window. A man in the car pulled out a gun and shot Mr. Krisada causing his motorbike to fall over. The driver parked the car and walked over to shoot Mr. Krisada another three times and then got back into the car and drove away. The shooting occurred 500 metres away from Banglamung police station.

Police assumed his death was a revenge attack or linked to drug dealing.

Since then, Pattaya police claim that there has been a reduction in gang shootings but are now having to deal with an increase in Yah Bah dealers.
