Pattaya Fun Run Raises 1 Million Baht For Fitness

One million baht raised in a charity run will be donated to Pattaya city to purchase outdoor fitness equipment, said co-sponsors Numchai Home Electronics Co., Ltd. and Mitsubishi Electric Kang Yong Watana Co. Ltd. The electronics industry leaders hope to promote healthy living in Pattaya.

PATTAYA – September 9, 2012 [Pattaya Daily News]: at 5 p.m., Mr. Numchai, whose company is Pattaya’s leader in home appliances and electronics, came to help launch the charity “Walk-Run for Health” event in front of Numchai Home Electronics Co.,Ltd., middle Pattaya, Chonburi .

The fun-run event also celebrated the 40-year anniversary of Mitsubishi Electric Kang Yong Watana Co., Ltd., another industry leader.

The chairman of the event was Mr. Ittipol Khunpluem, president of Pattaya city, assisted by vice president Mr. Wattaha Chantawaranon.

The Mitsubishi Electric KangYong Watana delegation included Mr. Masanori Uemura, general manager of the committee; Mr. Prapon Potiworakun, vice manager of the committee; and Mr. Anan Bunjerdthammakok ,committee administrator.

 

Representatives of Numchai Home Electronics Co .Ltd. included Mrs. Kiattiyos Chawalitnititham, members of the Numchai administrative staff, the managing board of the tournament, and interested parties who joined the charitable event.

Event sponsors included Numchai Home Electronics Co. Ltd.; Mitsubishi Electric Kang Yong Watana Co. Ltd., the distributor of Mitsubishi Electric Co .Ltd.; Thaimart; and Pattaya city.

The charity “Walk-Run for Health” tournament was to help promote the general partners in business and also to focus on exercising for health for the people of Pattaya, under the theme, “Trendy Innovation for 2020.”

Both of the electronics companies and many other supporting organizations have pledged funds to raise 1 million baht that will be donated to Pattaya city to purchase outdoor fitness equipment. It is hoped that the gift will contribute to the quality of community people’s lives in both health and education. The charity fun run tournament hopes to encourage people to develop their bodies and use their leisure time to their advantage, as well as strengthen their sportsmanship.

The running events featured many divisions and age ranges. The races attracting the most attention were the 10.5 km mini-marathon, and the 3-4 km walking-for-health race.

Racers started in front of Mumchai Home Electronics Co. Ltd. The route began on Muang Pattaya road, circled up to Sukhumwit north Pattaya Rd., then finished in front of Numchai Home Electronics Co. Ltd.

 

Dashing to first place among Thai athletes in the mini-marathon was Mr. Umyos Kitudom from Bang Khun Tian, age 28. Finishing in second place was Mr. Sonthiya Saykaew, age 24 years old. Both got the Cups of Fame Award from Pattaya city president Mr. Ittipol Khunluem.

In the foreign athletes division, winning the 10 km mini-marathon was Mr. Sirhanu Megersa, age 28, from Ethiopia. He finished well ahead of the second-place finisher, Mr. Edwin Kipkemei, from Kenya, age 28. In third place was Mr. Robert Bernard Kroglt, age 45, from Thongnarksom.

Numchai Home Electronics generously donated prizes for the winners. Mr. Sirhanu received a 2-door refrigerator, Mr. Edwin won a 1-door refrigerator, and Mr. Robert won a standing fan. Other finishers also received various types of fans.

All participants would receive the Medal of Honor for running, contributing to a vibrant atmosphere during the event.
