Pattaya Entertainment Spots Checked For Permits

The administrative officers of Banglamung inspected many entertainment spots in Pattaya to check their operating permits after Chonburi Provincial Governor ordered a crackdown.

PATTAYA – August 9, 2014 [Pattaya Daily News]; at 1.30 a.m., Mr. Sakchai Taenghor (Banglamung sheriff, Chonburi province), Mr. Phongthasit Pitjanan (Deputy District Chief and Head of Specific Unit) and Mr. Praphan Prathumchomphu (Deputy District Chief of Prevention Division) had mobilized forces of administrative officers, sub district headmen and village headmen to inspect and arrest the owners of many entertainment spots in the area of Pattaya city that had violated the law and didn’t have license permits to sell alcohol including water pipes (shisha) and also let employees and tourists that were under age into their entertainment venue.

Moreover, the officers also emphasized on inspecting entertainment spots that where owned by foreigners because they often took advantage of Thai workers. The inspection came about after complaints were posted on a website. Therefore, Chonburi Provincial Governor had ordered officers to inspect and arrest the entertainment spots that were committing these offences.


The administrative officers of Banglamung and police from Pattaya city police station had mobilized over 50 officers to decentralize to inspect various entertainment spots like pubs, liquor shops and discotheques. The officers arrested 10 entertainment spots owners that had committed the offences and also seized shisha and stoves in order to be inspected further.

Then the officers detained all the owners of each entertainment spot and sent them to an inquiry official at Pattaya city police station for prosecution and the officers will submit each case to Banglamung in order for the finding to be reported to the Chonburi Provincial Officers to consider the punishment to see if the entertainment spots can stay open or will be closed.
