Pattaya, 4 November 2010, [Pattaya Daily News], acting on a tip off, the Pattaya Drug Suppression Unit, conducted a sting operation on a dealer, Mr. Jarern Phuangsap [30], who also worked as a pub DJ. Police initially approached him on Nov3 under the guise of users and when he produced a 1.40 gm bag of yah-ice (crystal meth), they arrested him and confiscated the drugs as well as a pistol which was found on him.

The team, led by Pattaya Police Superintendent Nunthawut Suwanla-ong, having taken Mr. Jarern into custody, questioned him extensively and discovered the majority of his clients were Thai and foreign party goers who frequented various entertainment venues in Pattaya City, with a penchant for recreational drugs, like Crystal Meth, Ketamin and Ecstasy. Surmising that the dealer might well have a stash of drugs at his home, they persisted with their interrogation until he confessed. The police team then escorted him to his room at Inter Place, Thepphrasit Road at 12.05am on Nov4.

After a cursory search, a further quantity of drugs were found, including 100 gms. of Crystal Meth, 50 bottles of liquid Ketamin (normally used as a horse tranquilizer), and 75 Ecstasy pills. Officers also found

a bank account book and drug paraphernalia; all of which were taken as evidence.

Mr. Jarern was then returned to the police station and was subjected to the none too tender ministrations of the media. He was charged with possession of Class A drugs with intent to sell and was remanded into custody pending subsequent trial.
