Pattaya Clamp Down on Go Go Bars

Banglamung District had ordered the police to search and clamp down on entertainment venues in walking street. They found many under aged girls providing sexual services and lots of the staff had consumed drugs. Also 1 bars operating licence had exspired.

PATTAYA – June14, 2014 [Pattaya Daily News]; at 2.00 a.m., Mr. Praphan Prathoomchomphu (Deputy District Chief; Head of Stability Division) mobilized forces from Pattaya city police station, administrative division and over 40 Civil Defence Volunteers of Banglamung District, to check entertainment spots and go go bars located in Walking Street , address 234/2 Moo 10 Tambon Nong Prue, Amphur Banglamung, Chonburi province. Some venues were offered obscene shows and there were lots of female employees who were under the age of 18 and were working illegally.

 
Upon on searching 2 venues the offices found 4 female employees who were under 18 years old and 14 male and female employees who had consumed drugs. Mr. Karn Arphakittiwong, aged 39 the caretaker from the first venue was arrested and Mrs. Phimanong Banchuen, aged 39 the caretaker from the second venue was also arrested. Moreover, the officers also found that the second venues license had exspired. Therefore, the officers detained them and sent them to the inquiry official of Pattaya city police station to be prosecuted further according to the Thai law.

 
Mr. Praphan said that from searching the 2nd entertainment spots the officers found that the license had expired and there were a lot of under 18-year-old girls were working and most of the staff had consumed drugs. Mr Khomsan Aekkachai (Chonburi Provincial Gorvernor) ordered the closure of these entertainment spots. He also warned entrepreneurs of every kind of entertainment venue that hiring under the aged staff is illegal and if there is any type of sexual service being offered its classed as human trafficking and the venue owners will be punished fully to the extent of the law.
