PATTAYA – Recently- [Pattaya Daily News]; Mr.Sanit Boonchai- Member of the Pattaya City Council- had queried Pattaya administration after taxation in 2014 had been inefficient because a lot of operators had avoided to pay tax. Condominium operators especially leased their rooms, plus they didn’t pay tax and fees for waste water treatment. As a result of this public sector had lost revenue.

Mr.Wattana Jantanawaranon-deputy mayor of Pattaya- said that taxation on land; buildings and fees for waste water treatment were in charge of department of finance. According to statistics in 2013, there were 326 hoteliers, 287 of them already paid tax but 39 of them hadn’t pay tax yet. However the officials had informed them to pay tax within 30 days. If they don’t, the officials will then confiscate their properties and also receive a fine of 2.5% interest rate for first month, 5% interest rate for second month and 7.5% interest rate for third month.

Meanwhile fees for waste water treatment, Pattaya officials have collected the amount of water the operators have used (3.5 baht for house, 4 baht for small-medium operators and 4.5 for large operators). According to statistics, there were 27,224 water users in Pattaya but only 18,077 users had paid the fees.

However taxation is a crucial thing that everyone has to pay attention to in order for the officials can spend the money to develop the country.
