Pattaya the 21st of June 2010 [Pattaya Daily News]: On Monday, Pattaya City Hall officially announced the scheduling of the Thai Culture & Heritage Festival to be staged at the Pattaya Floating Market on the 27th of June 2010. Pattaya TAT Director Niti Kongruit joined with Pattaya Deputy Mayor Ronkid Ekasing and the Pattaya Floating Market Director Manat Meephong to announce the scheduling of the popular festival.

The festival will present ancient Thai customs and heritage to the community and visiting tourists, specifically in the areas of agriculture, gardening and cuisine. Gardening exhibitions will highlight the festival, giving people the opportunity to view some of the wonderful tropical and native plants that Thailand has to offer.

Turning back the clock, the festival will involve displays of Thailand’s rich heritage and culture, designed to stimulate tourism to the region and present the ancient past-times of gardening and agriculture to the visiting crowd. On display will be a wide range of exhibitions including; orchids, tropical gardens, agricultural products and displays as well as 10 pre-World War II ‘Soil House’ exhibits.

A popular gimmick and highlight of the festival will involve the visiting guests having to purchase any merchandise or food with ancient ‘Red Satang Coins,’ Thailand’s traditional currency. All market stall operators and food sellers will dress in traditional Thai costume, giving the festival a truly ‘Old World’ feel.

The festival will officially open on the 27th of June 2010 from 4:30pm at Pattaya’s Floating Market.
