Pattaya Celebrates Global Female Condom Day

The inaugural September 12 Global Female Condom Day was observed in Pattaya at the Walking Street entrance, with several days of events and educational activities. The worldwide event was meant to educate and encourage condom use by women.

PATTAYA – September 14, 2012 [Pattaya Daily News]: Activities to promote the first worldwide “Global Female Condom Day” were held at the entrance to Walking Street in South Pattaya.

Presiding over the festivities were Dr. Tawesap Siraprapasiri, the representative of the United Nations Population Fund Thailand; Pattaya mayor Mr. Ittipol Khunpluem; and agents from the health network.

 

The inaugural Global Female Condom Day was observed on September 12 in many countries worldwide. The day was observed by many organizations engaged in the prevention of HIV /AIDS spreading, reproductive health and gender equality, the health of women, youth health, and organizations for people with sexual diversity.

Their objective was to create activities to help people achieve better understanding about condoms, and increase the number of women using condoms around the world.

In this regard, two Thailand organizations that set up the Pattaya activities for the Female Condom Day were the United Nations Population Fund in Muang Pattaya, and the Health and Opportunity Network.
