Pattaya Allocate 300 Million for Koh Larn Power Upgrade

Koh Larn has recently been approved a 300 million baht budget by the Pattaya City Council. The budget was devised to fund the development of the popular resort islands infrastructure by laying undersea cables from the Pattaya grid, significantly upgrading the islands electrical systems.

Pattaya, the 23rd of February 2010[Pattaya Daily News]: A meeting was held at the Pattaya City Hall where  Pattaya Congress Chairman, Mr. Thawit Chaisawangwong chaired the announcement for the agree electrical upgrade for Koh Larn island to Pattaya City Administrators, Congress Members, Official heads and participating representatives.

Pattaya City Mayor Mr. Itthipol Khunplume revealed that the planned infrastructure upgrade of  Koh Larn’s electrical supply was soon to begin. Funding of 300 million baht has been assigned to the Electricity Generating Authority for the development and extension of the voltage transmission by laying cables under the sea from the Pattaya grid. Koh Sri Chang has already recieved the upgrade whilst work is to be commenced in Koh Larn in February 2010. The extra funding means that development will start at Pattaya Park and is expected to be completed by April.

This project, will allow the residents of Koh Larn,  12-11 megawatt of electricity for general use, decreasing damages from electrical faults, and will benefit the tourist industry.

The Electricity Generating Authority has also managed to prepare a continuation of the project around the island including Had Tawarn and Had Na Baan making access more convenient.  Mr. Khunplume added that Pattaya City has proceeded in the extension of the project for Koh Larn by calling a meeting for the infrastructure every two months.
