Pattaya – Fake Police Officer Arrested On Koh Larn

On 22ND April 2009 police arrested a man on Koh Lan island charged with fraud and impersonating a police officer.

At 9:30 pm Mr. Tanisorn Arsah, [32], residing at 110/4 Moo. 5 Surasak, Sriracha, Chonburi was arrested at the Max restaurant on Tah Wan beach in Koh Lahn by a police team headed by Police Colonel Tullayawat Meungthong from the Crime Suppression Department, and Police Lieutenant Coloneel Suktas Poompunmoung, Chonburi Deputy. At the time of the arrest Mr. Thanison had a police ID card hanging around his neck.

Pol.Col. Tullayawat explained that on 18th April, he had lent his car to a friend, Mr. Jaturon Paireung and when the car was returned he found his police badge [ID card] was missing from the car. He reported the matter to the U-domsook, Bangna police station and also tried to search for the thief who he suspected was Tanisorn Arsah, a friend of Mr. Jaturon.

After his arrest Mr. Thanisorn confessed that he had stolen the police ID card and used it to obtain money for gambling and to give to his wife. The total amount involved was over 1 million baht. Most of the money came from vendors and teenagers who had paid him to supply them with guns.

Mr. Thanisorn said he had told people that he was a nephew of Police Lieutenant Colonel Chalorsak Arsah, the Depuy Commander in Chief, Region 3, because he has the same family name.

Mr. Thanisorn was sent to Pattaya police station for further investigation. The police also requested the 10 victims who had paid him money to come forward and press charges.
