At 10.00 pm the Sawang Boriboon Foundation rescue team was notified that a young man named Sompong Yat Jarern [16], residing at 135 / 1 Moo. 4 , Ban Nong Sadao , Banglamung who is a student of Meung Pattaya School 2, had been beaten and injured at a house with no number in Nong Pla Lai area. The rescue team informed the volunteer police and rushed to investigate.

At the scene they found Mr. Sompong lying down crying in his mother’s arms. He was wearing no shirt and his body was covered with wounds indicating he had been hit several times by a whip. The rescue team rushed him to the hospital.

After receiving treatment, Mr. Sompong told reporters what had happened. He was riding his motorbike on his way to see his girlfriend and while he was passing Santikam temple, he overtook a gang of 10 teenagers. The gang caught up with him and passed him again and one of the boys turned around and shot at him with a gun. He was frightened and sped away on his bike to his girlfriend’s place and stayed in her room.

Unexpectedly, her father came home and became angry when he saw him in her room. The father then grabbed a whip and hit him continuously until he fell over. He eventually managed to call his mother to pick him up.

Mrs. Nual Anong, the boy’s mother, said she preferred not to file charges or sue the father of her son’s girlfriend. She wanted the story to be closed.

However, she said her son was a good boy and had a very good school record. “He did not deserve to be beaten like this” she said.
