Pattaya’s U-Tapao Airport Welcomes Laotian Ambassador

Pattaya’s Deputy Mayor along with various other local administrators and dignitaries joined at a meeting to discuss plans for the official visit of the Laotian Ambassador to Pattaya. The meeting was organised to discuss plans for the impending opening of the Pattaya-Luang Phrabang air-link, to be established out of the improved and upgraded U-Tapao International Airport.

Pattaya, the 4th of May 2010 [Pattaya Daily News]: The meeting, at North Pattaya’s J-Hotel, was chaired by Pattaya’s Deputy Mayor Ronkid Ekasing in association with Pattaya Business & Tourism Association (PBTA) Chairman Mr. Jamroon Wisawachaiphan and U-Tapao International Airport vice Director – Rear Admiral Suraphon Aisanon. The official gathering joined to discuss the impending arrival of the Laotian Ambassador, his family and various dignitaries from Laos Airlines along with the companies CEO.

The officials are expected to meet in Pattaya between the 5th and 7th of May to discuss the opening of an air travel link between U-Tapao International Airport and the Laotian border province of Luang Phrabang. The planned air-link has been a culmination of many years of hard work between local, provincial and national governmental departments. The successful upgrade and announcement of the new tourism revenue stream could not have eventuated without the continued prompting of various private organisations such as the PBTA.

Along with the opening of the link between Pattaya and Luang Phrabang, plans have been discussed to further expand the airports outreach to various key areas in the region including; China, Vietnam, Malaysia and several other popular Southeast Asian destinations. Discussions for the future, also saw links to various European nations discussed once the Pattaya-Laos link is established and has various domestic and international airlines involved.
