Organized by the Rotary Club of Pattaya in partnership with Pattaya city Hall, the event created a great social gathering bringing together the local bars, clubs, community groups and businesses and attracting sponsorship to raise funds for local charities in the process

This year, we are pleased to announce the second “Pattaya International Bed Race” which will take place on Sunday 31st January 2010. This will be far bigger with more than 20,000 people in attendance and an expected 100 bed racing teams taking part.
The whole day’s event is planned with a variety of entertainment including a Bed Parade. There will be a Family Fair starting at 12.00 noon with games and lots of fun.

After the actual bed race, there will be a Rotary New Year party. The location for this is Second Road in front of The Avenue shopping Mall. The route of the Bed Race will start and end at The Avenue. Teams will turn left into Soi 12, then left into Pattaya Beach Road, turning left on to South Pattaya Road and back onto Second Road to the finishing line in front of The Avenue Pattaya.

The Bed Race is a very popular fundraising and family event in many countries around the world including the UK, USA, Australia and New Zealand. It is a tried and tested successful way of raising money for the local charities and community projects. It involves teams of up to 6 members dressed as outrageously and funny as possible, pushing their spectacularly decorated beds from a designated starting point to the finishing line. The object is to not only get to the line in the shortest time but also to keep the designated passenger to remain on the bed at all times.

This second Bed Race in Pattaya will be a major undertaking by the Rotary Club and will undoubtedly help promote Pattaya as a fun family resort. Hopefully it will bring all the clubs, community groups and businesses together and attract sponsors for this unique, not to be missed event here in Thailand. It will provide good wholesome family entertainment in a safe environment, whilst bringing together the multi faveted groups working for a better community and will become an annual event on the Pattaya calendar

Not exactly Formula 1, but just as interesting and a lot more fun, this is a people’s festival allowing groups to set up their own and furnish their own “vehicle” & costumes. Spectators can sit and enjoy a good beer or two whilst supporting their teams trying to steer their beds through the busy Pattaya beach road on a Sunday afternoon.

The main sponors this year are; The Avenue Pattaya, Global i-care (Pattaya GIC Card), Barter Card, CTLS Language School, Mercure Hotel and Pattaya People Media Group
