Pattaya’s Haiti Disaster Fund Reaches 700,000 Baht

Pattaya City Mayor Mr. Ittiphol Khunpluem announced to the gathered media on Monday that the Haiti Disaster Fund had now reached an impressive 700,000 baht.

Pattaya, the 25th of January 2010 [Pattaya Daily News]: At Pattaya City Hall on Monday Mayor Khunpluem joined with Pattaya Business and Tourism Association President Mr. Jaroon Wisawachaiphan to announce to the gathered press and various city officials and dignitaries that the Haiti Disaster Relief Fund setup in Pattaya had now reached 700,000 baht. The fund was initially setup on the 23rd of January meaning an average of approximately 250,000 baht per day is being donated at the two locations setup in the city.

 

Mayor Khunpluem stated that the fund involved the cooperation of Pattaya City Hall, Pattaya City Business and Tourism Association, YMCA Bangkok-Pattaya and the Kasikorn Central Pattaya Branch in order to setup and maintain the two donation points located on Walking Street and in front of the Wat Chai Monkol Temple in South Pattaya. It has been reported that a wide variety of people have come to donate money for the appeal, including local Thai’s and visiting tourists alike.

The latest figures revealed that over 700,000 baht had been raised to date, with that figure expected to rise considerably until the completion of the appeal on the 2nd of February.
